About Andy's WWII Journal: The Pacific Theater As Seen By

Product description "June 16, 1944 We were attacked by four zeroes, but we drove them off. Orders came in the night to head straight out to sea as the Jap fleet was coming." So began the Battle of the Philippine Sea from the perspective of Petty Officer Robert Anderson, FC3. From Saipan to Leyte, from Luzon to Tokyo, Anderson documented his experiences, first aboard LST 483 and then LST 570, transporting man and machine throughout the Pacific Theater during WWII. This compilation of his private journal, his letters home, and various photos and newspaper clippings provides a very personal view of the war, and a man who fought it. For his wife and others of that generation, this is a look back at a time when they were young and their whole world had turned upside-down. For his children, it's a view of a father who, like many who participated, didn't talk about “the war.” And for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, it's a history lesson and a picture of an ancestor they barely or never knew.
