About Pro-Ject - 1Xpression Carbon Classic - Turntable
At the top of the list of innovative features for the 1Xpression Carbon Classic is an 8.6" carbon fiber tonearm boasting Evo Kardan rings and a brand new gimbal design that offers a resonance damping counterweight for the best performance from any cartridge. The improved belt-drive design uses a low-noise AC motor with effective motor decoupling to help keep vibration out of the signal chain. The motor uses an ultra-precision frequency DC-driven AC generator similar to Pro-Ject's popular Speed Box controller for ultimate speed stability. The complex main platter construction us unique and cannot be found on any other manufacturer's turntable in this price range. It is similar to the platter used in Pro-Ject's pricier Xtension models. Advanced thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) are used in a sandwich construction with an aluminum alloy for optimized resonance behavior. This heavy platter resists 'ringing' for superior vinyl playback thanks to its damping characteristics. Included is a felt mat which provides additional damping. The platter bearing axle is made from low tolerance chrome plated stainless steel running on a Teflon bottom in a bronze bearing housing. The turntable main plinth is constructed from low resonance MDF. The plinth is very effectively decoupled from structure-born vibration and other noise through Pro-ject's use of special absorber feet that employ TPE technology. These feet help reduce the risk of acoustical feedback. The Pro-Ject is ready to use right out of the box. As a special feature, 1Xpression Carbon Classic comes with the outstanding 2M Silver cartridge, which is a special version of Ortofon's world famous 2M Red cartridge featuring silver spools for optimal signal generation.
