About No Witnesses

Product Description "No Witnesses." Those two words and the thinking behind them drove three petty thugs to become mass murderers. Their crime, which rocked the sleepy suburban Delhi Township, did, in fact, have witnesses, before and after it was committed, including the women they killed. This is the story of how top notch police work, emerging technology, and interdepartmental cooperation led to the murderers' arrests. "No Witnesses," takes you inside the little savings and loan with the gunmen, as they fumble their way through their "big score.""No Witnesses," shows you through the eyes of the murderers what it is like to execute four innocent victims. You will witness the discovery of the victims by a husband who wandered inside the bank after the shootings. "No Witnesses," makes you a witness to the investigation covering the country, the three trials of the killers, and their time in prison. "No Witnesses," makes you witness to the lives of the families the murder victims as they work to keep the killers behind bars. "No Witnesses," was written based upon full examination of the interview tapes, the trial transcripts, and interviews of the key characters involved, including John Leigh, main trigger-man. After being sentenced to death, the three killers' sentences were commuted to life in prison. "No Witnesses" also gives a glimpse inside the Ohio prison system, uncovering the underground markets, gangs, and characters Ohio locks away to protect its citizens. Review In 2008, law enforcement officers in the tri-state area of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana pride themselves on the ability to work together to apprhrend criminals and serve the community.  The officers that worked on the Cabinet Supreme case set the example and laid the foundation for the ever expanding climate of cooperation in area law enforcement. John "Satch" Colleta Delhi Township Police Chief (retired) How the worlds of hardworking citizens and a couple of small time thugs collide that day in 1969 is finally being told by a reporter who covered the massacre.  As a crime reporter I admire the extensive research it too to write this book and calculate the emotional loss to families and a community.  They were supposed to leave No Witnesses, but Kate made me feel as if I were there. Deborah Dixon, Reporter WKRC, Local 12 News "I found myself right there with the investigators." - Kathy S. About the Author Kate March was called to the phone as she left a journalism class she had been teaching. It was her office. "Kate, you better get back here quick. There´s been a holdup in Delhi. Four women have been shot."  She had been the editor of the weekly newspaper, the Price Hill News for just a year and a half. Kate would win an award from the Ohio Newspaper Association for her coverage of "The Cabinet Supreme Murders." The full story is told in her book, "No Witnesses-The Story of Robbery and Murder at the Cabinet Supreme Savings and Loan."  Kate March worked 18 years as a journalist mostly editing weekly newspapers in suburban Cincinnati and in Lombard, Ill. She was a stringer for the Cincinnati Enquirer and was on the staff of the Pulitzer Prize winning Daily Gazette of Xenia, Ohio. She has covered crime stories and police departments large and small and has been exposed to such strangeness as being called as a juror in a sensational murder case about which she had written the original stories. Kate won writing awards from the Northern Illinois Newspaper Association; the Ohio Newspaper Women's Association; and the Ohio Newspaper Association.     "No Witnesses," was published posthumously.   Kate March died February 2007.
