This series of Filipina Barbie dolls features Barbie dressed in the costumes of indigenous Philippine tribes.
Made exclusively for the Philippines in 1994, each style is limited to 1000 dolls
Handwoven Philippine fabrics and other materials were used in the production.
Barbie wears a two piece red and plaid outfit. The top is red with black sleeves. There is white embroidery on the sleeves and the red front in two different horizontal stitches as well as a floral sprig-like pattern. The skirt is a red/green/black/white plaid with a chain and a hanging key belt. Barbie wears an intricate beaded necklace and an under-the-chin beaded decoration. She comes with a long, two-part reed covered basket.
Once again, the Philippines has produced some of the most detailed Barbies ever seen. Made in limited numbers, extensively researched, using native fabrics and materials, intricately detailed using traditional/wooden/"pearl" beads, these Ethnic Filipinas are a most special addition to a Barbie collection.
