About Brick Staining - Colorant Kit
Masonry Mix Colorant Kit is designed to permanently color porous masonry surfaces in a wide variety of applications. Now, rather than undertaking expensive demolition projects, you can match brick repairs, correct damage from harsh cleaning methods, remove graffiti, match additions and existing walls, create decorative patterns, change the color of masonry fireplaces and generally enhance curb appeal of your masonry projects. How It Works A controlled amount of our dry colorant is combined with water to create a slurry. The water acts as a carrying agent and allows the colored slurry to be pulled into the masonry because of its absorption capability. When the water evaporates, the bonding chemical changes from a liquid to a solid form (both physically and chemically), locking itself into the face and pore structure of the masonry. Because the mineral oxides are very similar to the structure of the masonry, the surface is not sealed and remains breathable, absorbent and completely natural looking. Professional Results Masonry surfaces that have been color enhanced with the Colorant Kit have a natural, shine-free appearance. This product is translucent and the background color can play a part. For example, if you want to change a red brick to orange, add yellow colorant to the brick. When dried, the yellow blends with the red and turns the brick orange. Applications for the Kit The pigmentation colorants found in the system are designed to permanently stain porous masonry surfaces such as brick, block, mortar, natural and manufactured stone, cast stone, and natural limestone. This system has been successfully used for over 28 years in field operations. Once applied, the Masonry Mix colorant chemically bonds with masonry materials and is odorless, non-toxic and non-flammable. Masonry Mix will not alter the texture or the physical properties of your masonry.
