About the Author Susan Peterson was a columnist for the Los Angeles Times, and has been featured on radio and television. She is a gifted and animated speaker who shares her expertise with various groups around the Southland Scottish-born Jan Peterson is an author, artist and former journalist who has published eight non-fiction books, including a memoir and a trilogy on Nanaimo's history. Jan came to Canada in 1957, and after stints in Kingston and Vancouver, settled in Port Alberni on Vancouver Island in 1972. Her work as investigative journalist and historian has earned her several awards and certificates of recognition throughout the years. Jan is now retired and living in Nanaimo, BC.
