About Deadly Straits

Product Description A PULSE-POUNDING PAGE-TURNER FOR FANS OF FORSYTH, LUDLUM, CUSSLER, AND VINTAGE CLANCY.A terror attack that stuns the world. A deadly plot that will forever change the balance of power. An innocent man framed for his own daughter's kidnapping.Meet Tom Dugan, a wise-cracking, globe-trotting consultant with issues. When the CIA asked Dugan to use his job as cover to 'take a few pictures,' he readily agreed, unaware his life was about to be changed forever and not in a good way. When he's set up and falsely accused of terrorism, the CIA offers him a deal, IF he betrays his best friend. With international terrorism and the weaponization of oil as a backdrop, DEADLY STRAITS is a taut thriller that focuses on the timeless questions of loyalty and love of family. What will a man do to save his only child? When is the price of loyalty to a friend too high?If you enjoy Forsyth, Ludlum, Cussler, and the original Clancy thrillers, DEADLY STRAITS will keep you turning pages late into the night.NOTE: ALL THE TOM DUGAN THRILLERS ARE STANDALONE STORIES. THEY MAY BE READ IN ANY ORDER. Review Fast-paced and hard-boiled as I like them, in the same vein as a Clive Cussler or Tom Clancy offering.Don Kidwell - Amazon Top 1000 ReviewerWell Done! This book held my attention and robbed me of some sleep. Excellent character development. The central characters were "fleshed out" and the supporting characters were developed enough to fill their roles. I liked the non-superman vibe of all of the characters. Dugan could be hurt and the effects of the injury continued as part of his character.D.B. Rosencrance - Amazon - 5 StarsIn Tom Clancy's 1994 thriller Debt of Honor, terrorists used a jumbo jet as a weapon ... it happened on 9/11. Deadly Straits speculates on the use of supertankers with the same deadly results. Let's hope we don't look back and say McDermott predicted that. This is a book of action and suspense, well written with multiple plots woven into one coherent whole. I've read several best-sellers that are legends in the genre and this book is as well done as any of them, if not better.Stephen C. Lovely, Amazon - 5 StarsIn 20 years at sea as mate and captain, I've been through the Panama Canal too many times to count, and through the Bosphorus and Malacca Straits as well.  You nailed it. Yours was the first novel to convince me the author had been there too. Well Done!Captain Dave Fath - Amazon - 5 StarsAny time I end up sulking because there isn't anything else out yet by an author, and I stay up until 4 in the morning because I couldn't wait to see what happens next, and I am recommending this to other people as a page turner, it's money well spent. I cared about the characters, could feel their angst, the author seamlessly pulled various threads of the story together, the villains were chilling and nausea-inducing, the maritime details were fascinating, and I thought the story was fresh and has the fierce pace of the movie "Taken". The only thing I could say to the author is "when is the next one?" Gets 5 stars from me as one I could not put down and one that is staying in my Kindle so I can re-read.JourneyOn - Amazon - 5 Stars About the Author Seaman, entrepreneur, former expatriate, and inveterate story-teller, R.E. (Bob) McDermott capped a long and varied career of international work and travel by turning to his secret passion, writing. Bob had the good fortune (and sometimes misfortune) of knowing more than a few interesting characters during his career, and bits and pieces of them populate his novels.McDermott's work is characterized by meticulous research and a gritty, seldom-matched realism. He strives to make his protagonists fallible humans - not superheroes, just ordinary people who screw up, but rise to life's challenges in extraordinary situations.Bob lives on the outskirts of Nashville, Tennessee with his patient wife (and chief proofreader) and splits his time between their condo on Old
