Working in a school with a high Somali population, she saw a need for her students to see themselves represented in literature. This compelled her to write a book to not only inspire children, but also educate adults. Tammy has three adult children who live in Minnesota. She has a taste for adventure, spending time in nature, listening to live music, and traveling to new destinations.
