This report is for engineers, system designers, technical leaders, project managers, and others who are developing cryogenic fluid management systems. Links to an online version of the report; video clips from a short course taught with this material; and a public GitHub repository of interactive Jupyter notebooks and a Python function library demonstrating some of the calculations can be freely accessed at www.moraninnovation.com. The focus of this report is passive technologies and operations that require no electrical power beyond valve actuation. Subsequent reports in this series will address hybrid and active technologies; and systems modeling and analysis. The content is based on the author's experience developing operationally deployed systems for the space shuttle, international space station, launch vehicles, spacecraft, satellites, aircraft, transportation, underwater vehicles, grids/microgrids, and large scale energy storage since the mid-1980s. This is an updated version of the originally published report with new material and a few corrected typos. Any readers who purchased the original version are eligible for a rebate toward the cost of this new version after purchasing it. Please see page 3 of the report for details.
