About Power Mechanisms Of Rotational And Cyclic Motions

Product Description   From the Physiology of Machines to the Anatomy of Machines An offshoot stemming from the author’s previous book detailing the makeup and composition of a machine, Power Mechanisms of Rotational and Cyclic Motions provides an in-depth analysis of machine structure and operation. An important reference for practicing mechanical engineers, this book presents the kinematic diagrams of driving mechanisms in detail, analyzes their motion characteristics and efficiency, and addresses the lubricating problems that impact the reliability and operating life of machines. The diagrammatic representation of mechanisms is accompanied by examples of their general and detailed design, main geometry calculations, and recommendations for an approximate evaluation of principal dimensions. The authors consider the main stages of design, including the choice and analysis of kinematic diagrams, preliminary sizing, embodiment, and the design and dimensioning of specific elements including gears, shafts, bearings, springs, cams, fasteners, and others. A pivotal work, the book contains details of design that include: Analysis of diagrams of mechanisms (for their kinematic effects and efficiency) Rough dimensioning of the main elements Examples of the design of mechanisms and their elements (with relevant calculations of geometry and for strength) Design of specific subassemblies and parts (including their materials and heat treatment) Choice and design of lubrication systems Intended for engineering postgraduates, engineers, and designers of machines, Power Mechanisms of Rotational and Cyclic Motions also describes the main metals used in machinery and their mechanical characteristics and provides expressions for strength calculation. Covering a wide range of mechanisms, it contains numerous examples of design of mechanisms and accompanying calculations and design hints based on the authors’ vast experience. Review "The book provides excellent technical information and very useful details on advanced machinery and mechanical components not sufficiently treated by the classical mechanical engineering design textbooks… The ‘real-world' applications and simplified mathematical expressions makes it an extremely useful and practical reference book for the practicing engineers."―Jacob Bortman, Professor, Ben Gurion University, Israel "… reflects the extensive real-world experience of the authors. This probably distinguishes it from many of the currently in-use texts on the kinematics and design of mechanisms."―Maurice L. Adams Jr., Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, USA "… includes plenty of detailed examples … useful for experienced mechanical design engineers… as a reference for advanced topics."―Reuven Katz, Technion, Israel About the Author Boris M. Klebanov, PhD, has accumulated approximately 50 years of professional experience in the design of diesel engines and drive units for marine and land applications, reduction gears, hydraulic devices, and mine-clearing equipment. Dr. Klebanov is the author of many articles and the coauthor of three books in the field of machinery. He worked from 1959 to 1990 in St. Petersburg, Russia, as a designer and head of the gear department in a company in the heavy engine industry and then at Israel Aerospace Industry (IAI) as a principal mechanical engineer until 2009. Dr. Klebanov is now retired. Morel Groper, PhD, served from 1987 to 2010 in the Israeli Navy as a design engineer, a navy shipyard chief marine engineer, and as the navy head of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Dr. Groper earned his PhD in 1999 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa. In 2010, Dr. Groper retired from the navy and launched his R&D company to provide comprehensive mechanical engineering and naval architecture services to naval, marine, offshore, and industrial sectors. In 2014, Dr. Groper joined the University o
