About Heart Book: How To Keep Your Heart Healthy

From the Author If you are worried about your cholesterol, and the possibility that you might have heart disease, this book is for you. If you already have heart disease, or are taking drugs for your heart, this book is for you. If you have had a cardiac stent or bypass, or are worried about having one, then this book is for you. The good news is that heart disease is reversible, and stenting or bypass is not inevitable. This book will give you the knowledge and tools to monitor, manage, and reverse heart disease, in spite of your mainstream cardiologist. Be prepared to be shocked and surprised by what you read in this book. Many of the chapters contain material exactly opposite to what you may believe. Do not be daunted in acquiring new information and discarding the old belief systems of the past. In case you have doubts, allow me to point out this book is heavily referenced to the medical literature. There is a lag time delay of about 20 years for new information to be accepted by mainstream medicine. This book gives you information and tools 20 years ahead of time. Since I am not a cardiologist, you might ask the obvious question: What gives me the ability and authority to write a book about coronary-artery disease? Isn't that reserved for the cardiologist? Although I am not a cardiologist, I am a board-certified vascular and interventional radiologist. This means I have spent a thirty-year career studying and thinking about atherosclerotic vascular disease (hardening and narrowing of the arteries). The same disease process that occurs in the coronary arteries also occurs in the peripheral vessels. In addition, for the past 15 years I have been working as a clinician, seeing patients in an outpatient clinic. Cholesterol and heart disease are a major concern of every patient I see in the office. In this book, you will be introduced to a useful cardiac test called the calcium score. This is a radiology imaging test using a CT scan (computerized tomography scan), commonly known as at CAT scan. The calcium-score test originated and was first used in radiology. This book empowers you to fully embrace the coronary calcium score, the new game in town and the paradigm shift in management of heart disease. In this book, you will learn how to use the coronary calcium score to monitor your response to your treatment strategy which will include diet and lifestyle modifications, and key supplements as described in the book. This book provides you with the medical studies, and the evidence for you to judge for yourself the following: 1) The theory that cholesterol causes heart disease had been falsified by modern imaging techniques. 2) Modern microbiology tools using 16s Ribosome sequencing has revealed that coronary plaque is colonized by multiple micro-organisms. In other words, plaque is infected bio-film. 3) The true etiology of atherosclerotic heart disease is a multi-step process starting with arterial damage at sites of shear stress, associated with underlying vitamin C deficiency which weakens the collagen wall of the artery. Once the arterial wall is damaged, infection may infiltrate. This is caused by low level endotoxemia from "Leaky Gut" and Periodontal disease which serve as source for microbial seeding of the atherosclerotic plaque. 4) Annual progression in calcium score accurately reflects activity of the disease process in the arterial wall. 5) Slowing or reversal of the calcium score progression indicates good response to treatment and a good prognosis. Increasing calcium score indicates failure of treatment strategy and poor prognosis with increased risk for heart attack in the future, 6) Statin drugs fail to slow progression of calcium score and should be abandoned, relegated to the medical museum. This is a small preview of a few of the ideas in the book, and there is a lot more covered in the book...I hope your learn a lot and enjoy it. I certainly did from writing it.
