Features the title track from the 1961 score Breakfast at Tiffany's, for which he won 5 Grammys and 2 Oscars.� There are 1000+ recordings of the hit theme "Moon River," written with lyricist Johnny Mercer. The Story: Celebrated composer/arranger/conductor's career spans 40+ years, highlighted by 4 Oscars and 20 Grammys, the all-time record for a pop artist. Mancini learned to play many musical instruments as a child. As a teenager, he wrote arrangements and sent some to Benny Goodman, who encouraged his career in music. He attend the Julliard� in 1942, leaving to enlist during WWII. After the war, he was hired as a pianist/arranger by Glenn Miller Orchestra leader Tex Beneke. His 1st movie score was Abbot and Costello's film Lost in Alaska. Best know for film scores Breakfast at Tiffany's (including classic "Moon River"), The Pink Panther, Hatari!, Victor/Victoria, Two for the Road and Wait Until Dark. Other hits include "Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet," "Dear Heart," "Days of Wine and Roses," "Charade" and TV themes "Peter Gunn," "Mr. Lucky," "Newhart," "Remington Steele" and the Thorn Birds miniseries.
