Spartacus was about 71 B.C. A gladiator and militarist of Thrace in ancient Rome, he led the Spartacus uprising against the rule of the Roman Republic in 73 B.C. with the Gallics, Cres, Enomayi and Ganix. The Senate appointed Krasu, the slave owner, to command the army and suppress the insurgents. In the autumn of 72 B.C., Spartak's army assembled on the Italian Peninsula of Brutia (now Calabria) and was expected to cross the Strait of Messina on a Kiliki pirate ship. However, the pirates did not keep their promises and did not provide ships. The Roman Senate sent Pompey and Lukuruz's troops from Spain and Thrace to reinforce Krasu. Under the siege of the Roman army, 60,000 rebels were attacked. Spartacus died in battle. Literature on Spartacus is rarely mentioned except in connection with the war. Many of the existing historical data are contradictory and therefore not all credible. But all the literature considers him to be a gladiator and an excellent military general. Spartak is often described as an insurgent who fought against the oligarchy of Roman slave owners and fought for people's freedom.
