Our mosaic pins have been vacuum-pumped to remove air bubbles. The resin is pulled in with a high-end vacuum, which pulls the glue down, and removes any small bubbles. The pins are cured afterward and lastly polished and burrs removed.
It is better for approximately 1/8" extends beyond the scales before you start sanding.
Once your knife handle has been built, it is recommended to keep the exposed surfaces of the mosaic pin protected with clear varnish/lacquer.

You simply need to use drill bits intended for drilling metal, which are capable of drilling through hardened high carbon steel.
