About HitchHiker, Double Treadle
An inexpensive compact portable wheel, the HitchHiker weighs less than 11 pounds and is airline carry-on compatible. It is made of Baltic birch plywood and cherry. It has a protective coat of Danish oil but is considered 'unfinished'. It is a direct drive wheel: a drive ring on the flyer shaft is driven from the side of the wheel with Scotch tension braking. Wheel diameter: 14"; ratios: 7, 9 and 13 to 1. Includes 3 bobbins, threading hook, attached oiler and on-board Lazy Kate.
