Games and puzzles reinforce shape, letter, color and number recognition; sequencing and counting; categorization; and more. With each activity, players help the little dinos on their mission to find special seeds to replant the Great Valley. Review Children older than three years are sorely underestimated by this collection of six early learning activities. Four- and five-year-old kids will quickly complete even the toughest game levels and then ask "where's the rest of the program?" Here's the scenario. Kids join the gang from the Land Before Time movies as they gather special seeds to grow food for hungry dinosaurs. In order to win the seeds, children play the six games which include Ducky's Leaf Drop, a counting challenge, and Chopper's Island Hop, a pattern game. There's also a jigsaw puzzle area, a sorting game and an activity where kids match colors, shapes and letters. Testers' favorite activity was the seeking game where they explore the environs to locate objects and then return them to their proper places. This activity requires a bit more brain power than the rest. The program's graphics are colorful and the overall design is such that even very young children will be able to play successfully. The theme of helping the dinosaurs appeals to kids as does the seed collection incentive. Unfortunately, the activities lack depth in terms of both content and difficulty level. Older preschoolers will play once for about an hour and that's it. There are many missed opportunities for teaching- shapes and letters are not identified by name. The timing of feedback is off, particularly in the categorizing activity. Additional activities with stronger content and educational value would make the program more valuable.
