Product Description The Kidde Hardwired Smoke Detector with Safety Light, model i12080, uses ionization sensor technology to detect invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner than photoelectric alarms. When smoke or fire is detected, an 85-decibel alarm will sound & & illuminate the area, so you & your family can quickly get to safety. The Kidde Smoke Detector is powered by a 120-volt power source and a 9-volt alkaline battery backup for coverage during a power failure. A red LED indicates that the smoke detector is sensing smoke or fire. A test-hush button allows you to test the battery operations as well as silence nuisance alarms that may occur from cooking or shower steam. The Kidde Smoke Detector will chirp when it's time to replace the battery. Install a smoke detector & carbon monoxide detector on every level of your home and near bedrooms to help keep your family safe from fire & poisonous gas. At a Glance i12080 Hardwire Smoke Alarm At a Glance: Ionization sensing technology detects invisible fire particles Battery backup for continuous protection in case of power outage (battery included) Safety light illuminates your path to safety Smart hush feature silences nuisance alarms Pre-stripped wiring harness with tinned strands 10-year limited warranty At a Glance Features The Kidde i12080 smoke alarm includes a safety light feature that provides 15 minutes of light when the alarm is sounding. It offers a tamper-resistant feature to deter vandalism or theft and a smart interconnect system that connects with up to 24 Kidde devices--including other smoke alarms plus carbon monoxide and heat alarms. The battery-backup feature (9-volt battery included) provides protection even during power outages, when many CO incidences occur. It has a large mounting base that helps protect surface paint from dirt and covers imperfections, and its pre-stripped wiring harness has an easy-off cap and tinned strands to increase conductivity. By pressing the hush button, you can easily and safely silence nuisance alarms caused by non-emergency situations, such as overcooked dinners. This feature desensitizes the alarm for approximately seven minutes. During this time, the alarm chirps every 30 to 40 seconds. If the smoke is too dense, the hush feature is overridden and the alarm still sounds, and the alarm automatically resets at the end of the seven minutes. This convenient safety measure eliminates the temptation to remove the alarm's battery, which creates an unsafe situation. The Kidde i12080 smoke alarm uses ionization sensing technology, which generally detects invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner than photoelectric alarms. Photoelectric sensing alarms may detect visible particles (associated with smoldering fires) sooner than ionization alarms. Kidde recommends that both ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms be installed to insure maximum detection.
