About You Are You

Product Description You Are You documents an annual weekend summer camp for gender-nonconforming children and their families. This camp offers a temporary safe haven where children can freely express their interpretations of gender alongside their parents and siblings without feeling the need to look over their shoulders. Through Lindsay Morris's sensitive images the viewer will experience an important moment in history where the first gender-creative childhood is being openly expressed with the support of friends and family. Morris reaches beyond the confines of the camp to contribute to a dialog about the crucial role that support plays in the lives of gender unique children. In 2012, selected images were published as the cover story of the New York Times Magazine, which jumpstarted an important and timely dialogue in a public forum. About the Author Photographer Lindsay Morris resides on the East End of Long Island. Her work has been published in the New York Times Magazine, GEO Germany and GEO International, Loupe, PDN, Marie Claire, Elle, Internazionale, Haaretz Israel, and Sunday Life Australia and has been featured on photography blogs Fraction, Slate/Behold and abcNews.com.
