About Woodstock Chimes MMMS Magical Mystery Wind

The My Sweetheart Magical Mystery wind chime features an ash wood top and wind catcher with a beautiful, rich teak finish that is weather-resistant and 10 high-quality silver aluminum tubes that will not rust when exposed to the elements. A perfect gift for the one you love, it is tuned to the opening notes of the endearing 1911 classic "Let Me Call You Sweetheart". Measuring 24-inches in overall length, these beautiful chimes feature a musical phenomenon known as Octave Doubling. Here's how it works you remember the Do-Re-MI-Fa-So-La-TI-Do scale from the Sound of Music? The "Do" notes that come at the start and end of this scale are the same note, an octave apart. Notes separated by an octave are considered harmonically equivalent and "ring" together in a way that adds a pleasing sound to the music. Our Magical Mystery Chimes take this theory to the extreme - each note of this chime is matched with its "octave double. " Never before used in wind chimes, this special tuning creates a heightening of the harmonics, creating a song that must be heard to be believed. Enjoy the complex layering of this calming chime in your home or garden. More than 30-years ago, the first Woodstock Chime was created by founder and owner Garry Kvistad from an aluminum lawn chair he found in a landfill. As a professional musician and instrument designer, he was fascinated by the Scales of Olympus, a 7th century pentatonic scale that can't be played on a modern piano. Garry had the idea to cut and tune the lawn chair chime tubes to the exact frequency of the ancient scale. The resulting Chimes of Olympus was the first Woodstock Chime and is still one of our bestselling wind chimes. Garry and his wife Diane founded Woodstock Percussion, in 1979 and it remains a family-owned business in New York's Hudson Valley.
