The 746 is a quintessential British retro telephone and a 1960's style icon. Launched in 1967 by the General Post Office in response to public demand, it would inspire two decades of conversation and is to this day, recognized as the universal symbol of the phone. Known as the "Modern Phone", it was a welcome redesign to the popular 706 model. Amongst a raft of improvements, a stable handset rest and carrying handle were incorporated into the modeled switch hook cradle to improve visibility, while the internal workings were updated in line with technological advancements. In celebration of the Great British icon, our contemporary model maintains the bold curves of the original design in a striking range of colors. For modern convenience, the dial has been replaced by push buttons without detracting from the outer Bexel design.
