About WarHats German U-Boat U-85 Cap Hat Badge
This is a reproduction badge for the German WWII U-Boat U-85. Oberleutnant zur See - Eberhard Greger. This badge is made in Germany from silver coloured plating and alloy metal. U-85 U-boat (Unterseeboot No 85), sunk three ships and was sunk herself on 14 April 1942 in the North Atlantic off Cape Hatteras by gunfire from a US destroyer. All 46 crew were killed.The wreckage of U-85 can be be dived today and several divers wear the badge as an honour badge that they have dived the wreckage of U-85.
