Tamale paper/ Papel de tamale 5 1/2" x 8" Rectangle We distribute tamale paper made from true vegetable parchment. There are imitation parchments often offered and sold as "parchment", but they do not have the same resistance to tearing when wet and boiling like ours do. Our Parchment can withstand the high heat of cooking in water and is necessary for any tamale-making process, either as an outer-sheet wrapper to wrap the traditional corn-husk "hoja", or the corn-husk can be completely replaced by an inner sheet of parchment. The Inside Sheet Parchment for the inner sheet is treated with silicone to avoid sticking of the masa and is not printed. The benefits of parchment tamale paper for the inner sheet as a substitute for corn husk "hoja" wrapper include uniformity and consistency no soaking or cleaning required no farm or field contamination speed in processing and handling less storage space continuous availability prices below that of (multiple) corn husks Hint: a few corn husks can be added to the cooking water to give the taste and smell of corn husks to the parchment. We offer a unique premium textured tamale sheet that closely resembles the traditional hojas...and the price is competitive with corn husks... Made from corn-yellow colored vegetable vellum that is 31# weight, the wrap is textured and food-grade silicone-treated for easy-release. 8" by 5 1/2" sheets, textured silicone-treated corn-yellow vellum, a trapezoid or triangle with the top cut off.. We have used these personally and once you go to parchment you will never go back to corn husks.
