Calla Lilies (Zantedeschia) are not true lilies at all, as they are stemless plants whose flowers and leaves rise directly from the rhizomes (bulb). They are actually arum and jack-in-the-pulpit family members. Commonly commercially grown as a very popular cut flower and one of the world's most iconic and widely known plants. Can be used in borders, containers, pond peripheries, water gardens and/ or as house plants. Sometimes referred to as African lily, it is a herbaceous perennial and can be deciduous or semi-evergreen. Calla aethiopica typically grow into huge clumps and grow very large arrowhead-shaped leaves. Sometimes the flowers are amazingly followed by orange berry-like fruits.
