Şişecam Glassware Business is led by Paşabahçe Cam Sanayii A.Ş., the oldest company of Şişecam Group, and its focus is glassware design, production, and sales; specialized chain stores; and production of paper-carton packaging. In the glass industry, Paşabahçe Cam is the third biggest company in the world and second in Europe with its extensive and strong distribution network, wide array of products, exemplary production capabilities, and customer-oriented strategic approach. Its first plant founded in Beykoz, Istanbul in 1935, Paşabahçe began producing handmade glassware from soda glass, transitioning in 1955 to machine production, regarded as the first stage of today’s automated production technology; in 1974, Paşabahçe began producing heat-resistant glassware. The company made its first export in 1961, rapidly increasing its production capacity as a result of its export-based growth strategy while also meeting growing local demand between 1980 and 2000. During the same period, Şişecam underwent technological developments that increased quality and productivity, engaging in production not only in its plants in Turkey but also in Bulgaria and the Russian Federation. Today, Paşabahçe has 6,000 employees, and 65 percent of its sales comes from exports to 140 countries.
