The confection is often packaged and eaten in small cubes dusted with icing sugar or coconut to prevent clinging. In the production process, soapwort may be used as an emulsifier. It also gives the same texture and taste as marshmallows, but all vegetarian! The origin of our confection is known to be during the Ottoman Empire in the 1700s.
