Having escaped the haze covering most of Malaysia, Barry & Corinne fly to the Philippines, looking for sunshine & clear blue skies & hoping to relax on sandy beaches. Instead, they are offered the opportunity to join a press group, heading to a remote area in Northern Luzon, to cover the Ifugao rice terraces at harvest time. This is a rare opportunity to visit isolated villages & celebrate their rice harvest festival. From Luzon, the couple rush to catch a flight south to Bacolod so they can experience the finale of the colorful Masskara Festival. Then, another early morning flight lands them on Mactan Island, where they stay in an up market resort & visit several others in the area. They also tour nearby Cebu City & its historical landmarks, as well as the beautiful historical mansions in Carcar. Finally, Barry & Corinne find paradise on Boracay Island, voted the No. 1 Tropical Beach in the World. From Boracay, Barry & Corinne board the inter island ferry for Manila, where they spend the week touring the city, including the US war cemetery, Rizal Park, Intramuros, Chinese cemetery on All Saints Day, Corregidor Island, Sarao Jeepney Factory, Taal Volcano at Tagatay & dine at the Hobbit House, where the staff are under 3 feet tall.
