The wax reservoir is individually shaped by hand by skilled craftsmen using heavy gauge copper sheeting. In Indonesian tradition, pure copper is always used for tjantings because copper enables the molten wax to maintain its viscosity for much longer periods than other metals. The spouts are made with real brass which also conforms to tradition. The handle is made from recycled Javanese teak wood and is given a natural, hand-rubbed finish. The quality is such that these tools are the preferred choice for many serious batik artists.
