The holes in the handles are a bit larger than the screws but that is a good thing, it helps to plumb the handles while installing for a nice straight look.You could first measure and mark and level where you want to install the handles, in your case on either side for the lock handle. If you are going into a steel door, just make a small pilot indention as to not make your hole bigger since you will be using the self tapping screws or the screws may be too lose afterwards. Easy install. Note, both handles are tightly packed against one another.
