It's no secret that girls tend to lose their confidence at this age more than any other time in their lives. Though, in aggregate, girls consistently score at or above the scores of boys in the hard science, they statistically abandon those very STEM pursuits in huge numbers during the middle school years. The Renegade Girls Tinkering Club was founded to encourage girls to pursue their love of STEM. The fiction books are aimed at providing positive role models for girls as they enter this tenuous time in their lives. And provide some fun, interactive, hands-on DIY within the context of a great story! These characters aren't superheros or undiscovered geniuses, they are kids that modern girls can relate to, who face some of the very real challenges girls their age face. The Renegades struggle, learn skills and the joys of making and inventing, and persist in their dreams. These books pass along some fun science tidbits, actual hands-on inventing projects, and present some really amazing women from history, with engaging plots and charming characters. Plus, the books are a darn good read. About the Author In 1996, Terri left Colorado, where she grew up, and headed even more West until she couldn't get any West-er. Landing in San Francisco, she earned herself a productive career in 3D character animation making video games, films, and television shows (but mostly video games.) Her career spanned more than a decade in character animation, art direction, and story development before she had children and, imagining a better world for them, co-founded the Renegade Girls Tinkering Club with her friend Vicky in 2015. She lives in San Francisco with 2 rowdy children and a fabulous, brilliant husband who brings her tea every night.
