First and Second Timothy, the largest two of the pastoral letters of Apostle Paul, were written from his prison cell in Rome. Though not all students of the Bible agree, I believe that they were written one directly after the other with little gap in time between them. I am also persuaded that they were written at the same time as the Epistle to the Ephesians. Many of the themes found in the one may be found in the others. Ephesians is written to the church body. First and Second Timothy are written to the pastor of that church. It would be advisable to study the Epistle to the Ephesians alongside the Pastoral Epistles. My pastor taught me to view these letters as the Bible's instructions to the New Testament pastor. That's how I present these studies through First and Second Timothy.
