He loved the idea of a summer on a sheep farm and how the young detectives formed a club to try and catch the sheep thief. BTW, he was as suspicious of Brett as Matt and the gang. He also had fun experimenting with some of the Australian lingo. And the illustrations were a big hit! A great story for nine, ten and eleven-year-olds especially. I thought the overall message was a very good one for that age of children, as well ... that keeping an open mind about something you may not think you'll like could help it turn into something very positive I definitely recommend the Murrowong Detective Club! - Liz" "A fun read for the whole family! The author, Cam R. Pearce, is from Australia, and I loved how he used footnotes to explain Australian words that might not be used in other countries. My boys (8 and 10 years old) and I loved learning these new words. This book is full of all the things young boys enjoy: soccer, technology, YouTube, friends, humour, and animals. The black and white illustrations (about one per chapter) are a nice added touch and there are lots of great descriptions like, "My nose was running like Mum's dribbling garden hose that Dad always forgets to fix." Wonderful characters and a fun story make this an enjoyable read for all ages! - Michelle Cornish" "Full of unexpected twists! Anybody could fall completely in love with the characters in this story. I enjoyed this book because it brought back memories from my childhood. I would recommend this book to parents and kids. The premise of spending the summer on a sheep farm is a great setting for the story and how the young detectives organized a club to try to find the sheep thief. The illustrations on the book is a bonus point for me and especially for the young readers as well. I highly recommend the Murrowong Detective Club! The lesson that we can learn from this is that we sometimes have to trust our own instincts, enjoy our time and let our imagination flow. - Niloo" About the Author Cam R.
