He loved the idea of a summer on a sheep farm and how the young detectives formed a club to try and catch the sheep thief. BTW, he was as suspicious of Brett as Matt and the gang. He also had fun experimenting with some of the Australian lingo. And the illustrations were a big hit! A great story for nine, ten and eleven-year-olds especially. The author, Cam R. Pearce, is from Australia, and I loved how he used footnotes to explain Australian words that might not be used in other countries. My boys (8 and 10 years old) and I loved learning these new words. This book is full of all the things young boys enjoy: soccer, technology, YouTube, friends, humour, and animals. The black and white illustrations (about one per chapter) are a nice added touch and there are lots of great descriptions like, "My nose was running like Mum's dribbling garden hose that Dad always forgets to fix."
