Product Description This historical fiction finds Angie Benedetto's chafing from her neighborhood's customs as much as her plaid-flannel Catholic school uniform. All Angie wants to do is fly airplanes and travel to exotic places. Combining historical facts and fictional adventure, Anthony Volente plans to control a gold mine by helping its original owner, Edgar Abbott Aldridge, regain control of the mine from the Vatican Bank. Edgar Aldridge's declaration of his son, Charles', death in Irian Jaya and Angie's mother's acquiescence to let her daughter fly for Anthony's company Irian Jaya allow Anthony to launch his plan. Volente and Aldridge's banking connections apply pressure to Luchino Cardinal Volente, the corrupt Vatican Secretary of State, who orders retaliation. While flying for her 'Uncle' Anthony, Angie witnesses soldiers murdering natives. After she reports her sighting, the killers sabotage her plane. Angie crashes on her next flight and Dani and Yali tribesmen help her find the presumed dead Charles Aldridge, the only man who can help her escape. Angie and Charles have to contend with swamps, cannibals and each other as the native's killers hunt them. In this historical fiction, Angie never discovers how Anthony Volente has used her, but Volente discovers that he, too, has been used when he learns of an unknown connection with Edgar Abbott Aldridge.
