The more I danced the less pain I felt, the less I thought about the world, I was too busy trying to hide my testimony. I was still afraid of the judgment I would have gotten if I had told them that I was fighting within myself, so I used my body. The same body that was doing wrong!!! To show how broken and abused I was feeling by the words of my family, “you will never amount to anything, you’re going to go to hell, we can't love you because something is wrong with you and we don't understand you”. While doing that I still had to channel the happiness someone else was feeling to show that joy was on its way. That is the power of my dance, it gives hope to the hopeless, and it gave hope to me. The power of my dance lies in the eyes of the person who is watching and in me the one who was feeling the emotion it took to get to the balance between pain and love within my dance. That is my kind of dancing one that never gets old, one that can always be revisited and looked at in a different light.
