About Tascam DR-40X Four-Track Digital Audio Recorder And
The DR-40X Stereo Digital-Audio Recorder is the latest in the series of Tascam’s handheld recorders and the successor of Tascam’s DR-40 recorder. The four-track recorder is ideal for capturing live performances by allowing you to capture the moving sound of surroundings while recording directly from an external console. Dual Neutrik XLR/TRS combo jacks support both mic-level and +4 dBu line-level signals. The microphone preamp includes +48V phantom power to power condenser microphones as well as electret type microphones. The DR-40X has an audio interface with a pair of unidirectional condenser stereo microphones with variable X/Y or A/B configuration that can be used the catch various audio including music recording applications. The DR-40X has an improved interface allowing easy access recording, level adjustment, added markers, and deleted takes. Tascam also included a studio-quality 2-in/2-out USB audio interface for excellent use in podcasting, digital audio workstations, and much more. The bright white backlit display offers menus in multiple language options and a dictation mode, which enables the user to jump back audio playback, including speed control and EQ. Also most noteworthy, Tascam’s DR-05X offers an overwrite mode, the audio record function can be set to begin recording when a sound is detected. Overwrite mode which allows you to select a precise record drop-in time for replacement recordings with one level of undo.
