About Starrett 657B Magnetic Base And Post Assembly, With

Starrett 657B Magnetic Base indicator holder, including base, dial indicator, swivel post assembly, and body clamp, is an all-inclusive kit, with push-button on/off switch and three-way grip, for use with all Starrett test, back-plunger, dial, AGD, and miniature-dial indicators, as well as similar indicators from other manufacturers. The upright base post has overall length of 6-1/2", with 2" long upper arm that swings in an arc of more than 180 degrees. The set includes a Starrett 657P magnetic base, a 711FSAZ Last Word dial indicator, a 657F swivel post assembly, and a PT07101F body clamp. The base has a push-button on/off switch for one-handed operation, and three precision-ground, magnetic contact points to grip horizontally, vertically, and upside-down. A V-step holds the base to arbors, shafts, and other cylindrical items. The base has an additional 1/4-20 tapped hole on one side for mounting the post. The magnetic base has a non-skid, black wrinkle finish on all non-working surfaces. The 711FSAZ Last Word dial indicator has a small size for versatility, and a half-shaded white and yellow dial to permit correct readings even in a mirror. The indicator has smooth, jeweled lever action with a positive reversing switch, and a hard chrome-plated ratchet contact point on the swiveling tubular body. The swivel post rotates 360 degrees. The body clamp allows the indicator to be clamped to any diameter rod from 1/8 to 1/4". The 657B magnetic base is 1-15/16 x 1-5/8 x 1-7/8 inches/50 x 40 x 48 mm (H x W x D). (H is the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is the horizontal distance from left to right; D is the horizontal distance from front to back.) Magnetic bases are magnetic fixtures commonly used in metalworking to hold dial indicators, and are also used in other fields, such as optics. Magnetic bases can assist the user with setting up a workpiece in a milling machine, surface grinder, or other machine tool. The
