Product Description The Sports Law Handbook examines sports and its relationship to various areas of law, as well as the legal liabilities and responsibilities of coaches, administrators, managers, and institutions that have a relationship to the sports field. This book (1) Identifies the relationship of sports to various categories of the law, including contracts, torts, and crimes; (2) Analyzes the role of the attorney and sports agent when representing athletes; (3) Provides insight into sports contracts and contractual terms, and the forms they should take; (5) Discusses the legal issues unique to professional and amateur sports; (6) Shows how criminal law differs from civil law in the context of sports; (7) Gives an overview of the various labor issues in the sports world; and (8) Details the laws and regulations covering the drug testing of athletes. About the Author William Glover received his B.B.A. from the University of Mississippi in 1973 and his J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1976. He joined the firm of Wells Marble & Hurst in May 1976 as an Associate and became a Partner in 1979. While at Wells, his practice involved real estate commercial loan transactions, employment law cases, estate administration and general commercial law. He joined the faculty of Belhaven University, in Jackson, MS, in 1996 as Assistant Professor of Business Administration and College Attorney. While at Belhaven he taught Business Law and Business Ethics in the BBA and MBA programs; Judicial Process and Constitutional Law History for Political Science Department); and Sports Law for the Department of Sports Administration. As College Attorney he dealt with Real Estate and Employment Law issues, including matters before the Office of Civil Rights of the Department of Education. He left Belhaven in 2004 for a short stay at Wells Marble & Hurst, PLLC, as General Counsel and then joined the staff of US Legal Forms, Inc., in January of 2007, where he drafts forms, legal digests, and legal summaries. He is also a COL in the Mississippi State Guard.
