About Spears 8171-C Series CPVC Bulkhead Tank

This Spears bulkhead tank adapter fitting, in gray, is made of schedule 80 CPVC, has a socket connection and a female NPT connection, and is suitable for use in high-temperature chemical industrial applications. This bulkhead adapter fitting connects two tubes with different end types through a tank wall. One end has a female socket opening to connect to a male unthreaded tube and the other end has female National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads to connect to a male NPT threaded tube. The socket end connects to tubes with a smooth bore for enhanced flow and the NPT threads create a tighter seal against leaks than straight threads. This schedule 80 (thick wall) fitting is made of CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) for corrosion resistance, high strength, and less weight than fittings made from metal. It includes a gasket made of neoprene, or polychloroprene, which is a synthetic rubber with good chemical stability and flexibility over a wide temperature range. This fitting has a maximum internal pressure rating of 150 pounds per square inch (psi) at 73 degrees F and a maximum fluid service temperature of 200 degrees F. It meets American Society for Testing and Materials International (ASTM) 1785 standards for quality assurance and National Sanitation Foundation International (NSF) certification for potable water service. This bulkhead tank adapter fitting is suitable for use in high-temperature chemical industrial applications. Tube fittings are components used for connecting, branching, terminating, and changing the direction of tubing in pneumatic and hydraulic systems. They are made of brass, stainless steel, PBT (polybutylene terephthalate), and other materials that resist corrosion and wear. Tube fittings have various types of connections, including threaded, welded, barbed, and push-to-connect (also called one-touch). Push-to-connect connections do not require tools or sealants. Tube fittings are used in various applications, including machine tools, airplane and truck controls, and automated production lines, among others. Spears Manufacturing produces thermoplastic fittings and valves for fluid, drain, waste, and vent systems. The company, founded in 1969 and headquartered in Sylmar, CA, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 9001.
