Review This is a delightful folk tale written with an apparently simple fluency that conceals skilful construction and serious meaning. Sian is one of the few in the village clear-sighted enough to understand why calamity has struck them and it is she who, because of her youth, courage and sound perceptions can bring a limited salvation (even the Winterwife cannot undo the past, but the future is assured). Centuries of fairy tale and mythology resonate through this short story and the realism of the Welsh village setting and the much more magical environment of the Winterwife herself are vividly brought to life. Highly recommended for readers of all ages. - J A Humphrey. When I first started reading it I thought it was gone to be of those boring stories but to my surprise it wasn't. The fairy tale story captured me from the beginning to the very end. I truly can say it was very well written. I would recommend it! - Joyce Van Kirk. A charming slightly offbeat celtic empowerment story well written hopefully we will get more from the author. Well worth reading - F. Beddington.
