The Shimano Waxwing Jigs are sub-surface swimming jigs for saltwater fishing applications. Simply cast the jig and point your rod tip straight towards the jig; then start reeling. The jig's hydrodynamic body design creates a side-to-side; zigzag swimming motion with an irregular kicking action which triggers the fish to strike. This action is created from the jig's wings - the upper wing is responsible for creating the zig zag motion while the lower wing is tasked with preventing any rolling. The Shimano Waxwing Jig features a stainless wire-through construction (except the 068 model) and a tin-coated saltwater double hook (except 168 model). The Waxwing Jigs are often employed with braided line when targeting inshore pelagic species such as yellowtail; Dorado and tuna. The high quality finishes on the jigs are rarely seen in saltwater lures; offering exact matches to the forage species big game fish feed upon. The Waxwing jigs possess a UV reactive paint on the lateral line for a bit of flare and flash. From an angling perspective; every individual who has owned and enjoyed using Shimano tackle has a reason to thank a Japanese visionary named Shozaburo Shimano; who in 1921 declared aim to make Shimano’s products the best in Kansai; then the best in Japan; and finally the best in the world." For over 80 years; Shimano has concentrated on precision engineering; one step at a time. Creating the most innovative products and processes you can hold in your hand today.
