Who or what is Sheets & Giggles? Based in Denver, S&G makes absurdly soft, sustainable lyocell bedding out of eucalyptus trees. Our sheets are naturally softer, more breathable, and more moisture-wicking than cotton. Plus, because we don't work with physical retailers, our prices are about 20-40% lower than the comparable high-quality eucalyptus options at your local bedding retailer. We can't name that retailer for legal reasons, but they may or may not also sell shower caddies. If you're a fan of $250 bamboo viscose sheets, or if you love the feel of your cute modal underwear with pandas on them, you'll obsess over our eucalyptus lyocell. All three materials are cellulosic rayon, which is made from different types of wood, and they have similar feels and breathability. Our lyocell is the latest and greatest generation of this rayon production process (bamboo viscose was the first, modal was the second). Aside from being less wrinkly than viscose (bamboo), we're also able to reuse nearly 100% of the solvents used in each batch of wood pulp production. This is a much more sustainable process than earlier methods, which typically has a lot of chemical runoff (depending on the manufacturer). Boom. Lured you in with the puns, then snuck some actual information in there. We don't harvest wood from ancient or endangered forests; rather, our eucalyptus trees are grown on sustainably managed and biodiverse plantations. For every tree harvested, two more are planted, and for every order we plant a new baby tree somewhere in the US that needs reforestation. If you've heard of Tencel, we're similar, but different. Tencel is a registered trademark for a massive manufacturer that sells lyocell, which is the technical name for our eucalyptus fabric. Just by virtue of their size, pretty much all the lyocell you see in stores is Tencel, but not ours.
