The Sartorius Corporation Practum3102-1S Practum Toploading Balance has a capacity of 3,100g, a readability of 10mg (0.01g), a 180mm diameter weighing pan, a color touchscreen, and seven built-in applications for standard lab weighing tasks. The touchscreen features icons and text prompts for intuitive operation. This balance has a mini-USB port for connecting a computer or lab printer (sold separately) for data transfer and output. The port allows direct data transfer to Microsoft applications, and automatically detects the connection of a Sartorius YDP40 printer. Direct data transfer requires a computer with a Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, XP, or 2000 operating system. A menu lock password-protects the menu, preventing tampering to preserve settings and maintain data integrity, and a security ring and a fastening point for a Kensington key lock (sold separately) can be used to deter theft. A weighing port allows underfloor weighing of oversize containers. The balance can be calibrated using external weights. Leveling is performed by manually adjusting the feet until the air bubble is properly centered in the level indicator. The balance comes with a universal power supply and 120V line cord. A precision toploading balance is used in laboratories and other indoor settings for determining the mass of a liquid, paste, powder, or solid sample.
