About Rock Hound's 1st Choice Rock Tumbler Polishing

What is ceramic tumbling media and why is it used? Ceramic tumbling media can take form in many different sizes, shapes and colors. It's ceramic composition can be variable. Sizes and shapes vary greatly- It can be cylindrical ,triangular or square. It can be angle cut (best) or flat edged. Sizes generally range from 3/16" to 1 1/2". Colors may be white, green, gray or other (but no color is favored at this time above another). Ceramic media may have a grit size assigned or not. Grit and polish do their grinding work when they are caught between hard pieces of rock in your tumbler. Ceramic media is used as a filler if you do not have enough rough to bring your tumbling barrel up to the 1/2 to 2/3 full desired level. Plastic pellets do not work as well here. Ceramic media delivers grit to hard-to-reach rock surfaces and improves tumbling action in the barrel. Rock tumbling ceramic media can radically improve the results of your tumbling and reduce the amount of time needed to convert rough stones into brightly polished gems. Ceramic media can save electricity, conserve grit and ultimately provide a final polish far superior than tumbling with out it. Ceramic media can last a long time. Ceramic media is somewhat more durable than agate or jasper. For example- If you run them in coarse grit, ceramic media will get smaller with every tumbler run. Small media might last just a few weeks in coarse grit. Large media lasts considerably longer. Made in the USA - Large Triangle "Angle" Cut measures 1 1/8" x 5/16". Long Lasting 20 Grit , Gray Color, Big 1/2 Pound Bag! (about 22 pcs)
