About Ride Til I Die

Product Description George Thorogood is an American icon. Together with his band The Destroyers he has become as much a part of American culture as the 4th of July, Mom's apple pie or Rock `n' Roll itself. 2003 was the band's thirtieth anniversary and sees them in sparkling form on this album, their first for Eagle Records. It includes Thorogood's signature guitar licks and trademark vocals, ably backed by the Destroyers who play with passion and intensity. The title track is written by John Lee Hooker and there are also covers of tracks by Bo Diddley (You Don't Love Me, You Don't Care), Chuck Berry (Move It) and Eddie Cochran (My Way) alongside Thorogood originals. The album has been produced by Jim Gaines, who produced Santana's multi-Grammy award winning album Supernatural. Amazon.com Since the early 1980s, George Thorogood has delivered heart-felt tributes to his favored blues and rockabilly artists, and he’s continued along this expected path with Ride ‘Til I Die. Warm and deeply affectionate covers of 's "You Don't Love Me (You Don't Care)," 's "My Way," and, of course, 's "Ride 'Til I Die," demonstrate that Thorogood is in fine form, his trademark slide guitar warring with a squealing sax over a pumping blues grind. "American Made" is a sure-fire crowd pleaser; "She's Gone" is a dirty stomper that recalls his biggest hit, "Bad to the Bone"; while the closing title track is an evolving acoustic number punctuated by sudden electric wails. Unlike pop stars, bluesmen often benefit from the passing of time; it lends them weight and gravitas. Thorogood is no exception. He'll peak late--and he's pretty damn good now. --Dominic Wills
