Put the wood under the material to be punched 2. Optional: Place a piece of duct tape to the area you wish to apply the grommet 3. Place the cutter to the desired place you wish to apply the grommet (with the blunt end facing up) 4. Use a hammer and strike the blunt end. QUICK TIP: make small quick taps all around the blunt end to get a more even cut (especially on thicker materials). 5. Place the 2 pieces of the brass grommet to sandwich your sheet/fabric/material. Make sure that the smoother, prettier side faces out if it is to be seen while the rough side should be hidden from view. The rough side is where the small pieces of metal will curl and become flattened. 6. Place anvil under the rough side. 7. Place the setting tool on the smooth side and strike your hammer onto the setting tool with quick steady taps as if you are carefully hammering a nail.
