You won't be able to put PUSH BACK down. Review PUSH BACK is probably the most realistic post-apocalypse novel I've read to date. No zombies or crazed mutants here, just human beings at their best, and worst, battling for survival after a natural disaster renders the world bereft of technology. I guarantee that you will become immersed in this story, and find yourself asking, "what would I do in this situation?" more than once or twice! Great read!Sunshine Girl - Amazon - 5 Stars I'm an avid reader of most genres, but have never been much into dystopian or post-apocalyptic books. I started this series mainly because I discovered the author's Dugan books and fell in LOVE with his writing style and characters. Fortunately that carries over to the Disruption series. You're better off reading UNDER A TELL-TALE SKY first to fully immerse yourself in the story, then PUSH BACK picks up right where the first book leaves off. Your heart will be pounding as you cheer for Fort Box, visualize the Appalachian Trail, and are amazed at people's ingenuity -- and seriously begin to think about stocking your pantry.Cynthia Poudrette - Amazon - 5 StarsI'm a former Navy survival instructor, and survival in a city is described so accurately in this book it will put some scare in you! McDermott weaves an interesting and almost terrifying story with easy to believe circumstances, and scenarios that really made me lay awake and night and think. Thought provoking, realistic, even to the way the military people spoke, he is right on with their vocabulary and thought processes. I plan to read every book Mr McDermott writes. Take it from a Navy survival instructor----you will enjoy!dereader - Amazon - 5 StarsThis second installment of a trilogy is even better than the first one! There are no zombies in this post-apocalyptic thriller, but there is plenty going on without them. The only thing that kept me from reading this in one sitting was the need to get up and go to work. A common thread in all McDermott's work is that although he showcases the darker side of human nature and is somewhat cynical about our current society, he also shows that our core values as human beings are our best keys to survival and success. He doesn't moralize. He just gives us a good, compelling story that you will feel good about when you finish.SDM - Amazon - 5 Stars I've been into the post-apocalyptic genre lately, which is how I happened upon the first book in this series. I've enjoyed both books and appreciate that they're written in plain English. I've been frustrated by several books in this genre where the assumption seems to be the readers are die-hard preppers who're familiar with all the related terms. My husband is military and we're beginning preppers so I'm not knocking that at all. It's just nice to be able to enjoy a book without researching terms. I also enjoy the very human characters the author has created and I'm thankful they're not all Rambo wannabes. It's nice to know us average folks might make it in the new world, at least in one author's imagination. This is a great post-apocalyptic read that is different than most apocalyptic books in a good way. In fact it's just a good story, so I would recommend to anyon
