The hinge clutch cover is the long black plastic part that covers the mechanical parts by the hinge of your MacBook, or the only plastic part visible to you at the fulcrum of your machine. It's visible from the back when your MacBook is closed and also when it is open at the base of your screen. Over time, the clutch cover can become cracked and eventually even break, exposing some part of the internals of your machine. This typically doesn't affect the operation or functionality of your computer. However, in addition to aesthetics it serves the purpose of keeping dust and other undesirables out of your MacBook.Compatible SubfamilyMacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.0 13" (Unibody)MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 13" (Unibody)MacBook Pro "Core 2 Duo" 2.26 13" (SD/FW) (09)MacBook Pro "Core 2 Duo" 2.53 13" (SD/FW) (09)MacBook Pro "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 13" Mid-2010MacBook Pro "Core 2 Duo" 2.66 13" Mid-2010MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.3 13" Early 2011MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.4 13" Late 2011MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.7 13" Early 2011MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.8 13" Late 2011MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.5 13" Mid-2012MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.9 13" Mid-2012InstallationHolding left hinge, slide clutch cover 1/4 inch(6.35 mm)away from the LVDS cablePress down on clutch cover to loosen 4 hooks insideTilt up end of clutch cover as you roll it toward display faceTilt up cover onto end with longer cableLower clutch cover onto display assemblyListen for shapping sound as hooks engageReplacement NoteCover display face with clean, soft clothNote shape of clutch cover: flat at bottom; curved at topMake sure flat edge is at bottom of displayCheck for good fit avoid: gaps, bulges, pinched cablesToolsPhillips #00 screwdriverSpudgerT6 Torx screwdriverPackage Weight: 0.200kg (0.44lb.)Size: 20cm x 6cm x 3cm
