That style blended favela samba rhythms and city bossa nova melodies with American rock and Jamaican reggae. Over the years, the Grammy Award-winning Veloso has refined Tropicalia with his hypnotic vocals and brilliant lyrics, as this live date from Rio in 1998 aurally illustrates.
