Available in Solid 14K Yellow or White Gold, or Sterling Silver Saint Dymphna was born in Ireland. Her father was a king there. When her mother died, Dymphna was only fourteen. Her father Damon scoured the world for a suitable and equally beautiful replacement. After the search failed, his advisors pointed out to the chief that his teenage daughter had inherited her mothers looks. Driven mad by grief and mental illness, Damon made awkward sexual advances towards Dymphna. Together with her confessor, the elderly priest St. Gerebernus, the court jester and his wife, she fled to Gheel, Belgium. There they took refuge at a chapel near the present day site of Gheel, not far from Antwerp. However Damons spies tracked them down and the chief set out after them. Confronting them at Gheel, he ordered his soldiers to slay Gerebernus and begged Dymphna to return with him to Ireland. When she refused, he decapitated her in a rage. Locals later buried the two bodies. A few years later, they decided to make a better burial site and found 2 tombs where they had buried them. St. Dymphna is also known as "Dimpna" or "Dympna" and may be synonymous with the Irish saints Davets and Damhnait (Damhnade). Her feast day is May 15 and she is the patron saint of those who suffer from mental illnesses and nervous system disorders, epileptics, mental health professionals, incest victims, and runaways.
