This helps us relax and more importantly, help us get 'mental rest' from the rhythm of life. I often see people fiddling with their phones in what ever free time they have and this often leads to more mental tiredness and stress. Something else is needed. Drawing simple landscapes with pen and ink is a great way to 'disconnect' from our daily rhythms, even for a small time. All you need is a small sketch book and a gel pen and you can sit outside on a nice sunny day and connect with nature by capturing its beauty. Such breaks will greatly mentally rejuvenate you and will help you to see nature in a whole different light. I wrote pen and ink drawing workbook with following 2 aims: To help people discover the joy of engaging in their creative expression by means of drawing pleasing pen and ink landscapes. To provide a step by step, fully illustrated and guided approach to enable the above point and the result is this workbook series. Too often I find pen and ink drawing books, and for that matter most of drawing books, start with technical explanation of concepts, detailed discussion of pen and paper choices to consider etc and by the time a beginner gets to actual drawing part, they are sufficiently discouraged. This approach results in drawing being seen as an activity with high initial hurdle to entry that only naturally gifted ones can do and that anybody else would need to devote considerable time and resources before they can see any positive result. Nothing could be further from truth. Drawing is not just for 'artists' but every one has it inside us. What is needed is a 'practice based' approach to learning drawing where the focus above all is on illustrating step by step the strokes to use and their manner of use. The viewer should be able to see the drawing 'evolve' on the page right in front of their eyes by the application of strokes that are clearly explained. Text should be kept to minimum and only used when it adds to the discussion and not just for filling in pages. This should be followed with very practical exercises that can be easily attempted based on previous illustration and explanation. This is the approach taken in my pen and ink drawing workbooks. There is no fluff just illustrations upon illustrations showing how to progress from drawing a simple trunk to a full blown pleasing landscape. Best of all, all you need is an ordinary drawing book and a good quality gel pen to begin. I invite you to start your pen and ink drawing adventure and discover how joyful and relaxing it is. You are never too young, too old or too busy for this. Lets start this wonderful journey. Feel free to reach out to me at my website pendrawings.me
