From the Manufacturer The Pteranodon is one of the best known pterosaurs. This flying reptile lived on earth during the upper Cretaceous period, 70 million years ago. Measuring 7 to 9 m, it moved around by gliding above the oceans to hunt fish in the same way our present-day pelicans do. Its jaw had no teeth, which seems to indicate that this excellent fishing predator swallowed the fish whole. The crest on its head balanced out its elongated beak and its skeleton must have been light due to the fine, hollow bones of its wings.
